Nalbari, Aug. 13: The Barkhetri unit of the Yuva BPF, a popular organisation of Nalbari district, will organise a state-level beach kabaddi championship at Bhangnamari Char in Barkhetri area in Mukalmuwa here.

The meet will start on Thursday with a two-day programme. Organisers today said altogether 17 teams have already confirmed participation. If any more teams want to join, they can do so by August 15, the organising committee has stipulated.

The tournament, which is being organised in association with the All Assam Kabaddi Association and Naw Batsor Yuba Sangha, is a first-of-its-kind in Nalbari district.

Meanwhile, a special kabaddi coaching camp concluded today at Naruwa village in Barkhetri.

The camp, which started on August 4, had more than 500 participants from various parts of the state.

Several sportspersons and organisers like Manowar Husain, Munnaf Ali, Maniram Daimary and others attended the closing ceremony.

The camp was also organised by Yuva BPF in association with Riggu Damcha Sports Club of Barkhetri.
