Guwahati, Sept. 1: Several leading national players will be seen in action in the 51st Men’s & 32nd Women’s All India Railway Basketball Tournament, to be organised by Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association (NFRSA), from September 3 to 9 at the NFRSA courts here.

More than 400 cagers, including 105 women and 35 officials, representing 20 men and seven women’s teams from 16 zonal railways and other production units will take part in the tournament to be inaugurated by Railway Board chairman K.C. Jena.

The participating zones and production units in the men’s event include hosts NF Railway, Northern, Eastern, Southern, Western, South East Central, South Central, Central, North Eastern, North Western and West Central Railways, Railway Board, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, Diesel Locomotive Works, Kolkata Port Trust, Railway Coach Factory, Integral Coach Factory, Metro Railway of Calcutta, Research Design and Standards Organisation and Diesel Loco Modernisation Works.

In the women’s section, teams will feature from Western, Southern, Central, South East Central, South Central and West Central Railways.

In the last edition of the meet held at Chennai last year, Western Railways were the men’s champions and Southern Railways were the women’s champions.
