Jorhat, July 20: Ashok Kumar Singh has taken over as the managing director of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), an official communiqué received here said.

Singh, a graduate in electrical engineering, has more than three decades of experience in the gas and petrochemical sector in India.

After a brief stint as planning engineer with a multinational company in Bangalore, he joined the erstwhile Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (IPCL) at Baroda in 1984. After serving over six years at IPCL, Singh switched to GAIL in 1990.

Singh has worked in GAIL in various capacities encompassing numerous fields.

Recognising his contributions in project execution, GAIL, the lead promoter of BCPL, deputed Singh to BCPL in 2010. He has played a vital role in the completion and commissioning of the petrochemical complex at Lepetkata in Dibrugarh district, the communiqué stated.
