Adarsh and Rose Bud bloom

Guwahati, April 30: Adarsh Hindi Vidyalaya and Rose Bud English School posted wins in their respective group league matches of the GCCC Silver Jubilee Nabin Chandra Tamuly and Bhaskar Sarma inter-school cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.

While Adarsh Vidyalaya got the better of Axom Jatiya Vidyalaya by five wickets, Rose Bud prevailed over St Luke’s English School by 65 runs.

Jatiya Vidyalaya, put to bat first, were all out for 85 in 18.3 overs and Adarsh Vidyalaya, in reply, achieved the target losing just five wickets in 17.2 overs.

For Jaitya Vidyalaya, Debojit Bora made 12, while Deep Das and Preetish Kakoty contributed 11 runs each.

Suraj Rai and Raja Kumar Poddar of Adarsh picked up three wickets each for 19 and 21 runs respectively, while Bhavish Kumar Jha scalped two for 11.

For Adarsh, Uma Shankar Roy made 30 runs and Pramod Kumar Poddar added 16.

Debojit Bora of Jatiya Vidyalaya scalped two for 12. Uma Shankar Roy was named Man of the Match for his contribution with the bat.

In the second match, Rose Bud posted a challenging total of 162 for seven in the stipulated 25 overs and St Luke’s, in reply, were bundled out for a paltry 97 in 18.4 overs.

Abdul Janishar Khan topscored for Rose Bud with 61 runs. He hit seven boundaries during his knock. Mustaq Tagala made 28, while Amit Prasad added 15 to the total. Tapan Saha and Chandan Singh of St Luke’s picked up two wickets each for 26 and 19 runs respectively.

Later, Ajay Shah topscored for St Luke’s with 16 runs, while Sandeep Pandit added 13 to be the only other batsman to score in double figures.

Abdul Janishar Khan and Ajoy Choudhury notched up three wickets each conceding nine and 10 runs respectively. Mustaq Tagala claimed two wickets for 16.

Khan was named Man of the Match.

Tomorrow, Don Bosco School will play Loknath Academy and Faculty HS School will clash with Rastrabhasa Prabhakar Hindi Vidyalaya.
