You last played in Calcutta in 2011. What’s been keeping you busy?
Yes I am back after a really long time. I have been travelling all over the world and all the nightclubs that I run take up most of my time too. I am also off for my US tour in August.
What’s the scene with your nightclub Hype? Is the Delhi outlet shut?
Hype in Delhi did shut down but we are reopening it in another 30 days at a new location, while Hype at Mumbai is pretty much on and running. I have another nightclub in Mumbai called Flaunt and one more in Goa called F-Beach Club. I am also coming up with some resto-lounges. By 2014, I will have about 10 properties. They will keep shutting and reopening, it doesn’t matter.
How do you manage business and music?
It is not that hectic. I play 60-70 nights per year, which comes to one or two nights per week, mostly a Friday and a Saturday. I feel a DJ does not need to play more than that, he will get exhausted. I have the entire week from Monday to Thursday for myself.
What do you make of the current rage about EDM?
I personally love electronic music. EDM gives a lot of variety to an artiste to choose and play from. So many EDM tracks release every day vis-a-vis Bollywood and I feel after a few drinks people do want to listen to something that is different. Even when I started years ago, it was mostly experimenting with the sub genres. If you listen to my music, I have always been playing EDM with Bollywood vocals.
Any new albums?
I am coming out with a new album called Forever 3 in the next 30 days. My last album released in 2012.

Song on loop: One of the songs from my yet-to-be-released-album Forever 3 but I can’t disclose which one.
Last thing your children did that touched you: Both my kids, Azaan (11) and Fizaa (8) have this habit of grabbing me and not letting me go, the moment I get home. I find it very cute and touching.
Last time you organised a party: The Hypeout Holi party in Delhi. It was a huge hit!
One Bolly star to watch out for: Ranbir Kapoor. He is such a natural, and very effortless.
Last movie seen: Man of Steel.
Favourite sub genre of EDM: Trance and progressive house.
Last gig: In Australia in April.
