Three hurt in factory blast

According to the victims, the owner of the factory hired them for repairs

Three persons were seriously injured after a blast took place in the air tank of an ice factory, Beauty Ice-Cream factory, at AM Co Road in ward 14 of Dhubri town on Sunday.

The intensity of the blast was so high that a portion of the tank fell 500 metres from the spot. The tin roof of the factory was totally damaged.

According to the victims, the owner of the factory hired them for repairs.

The three injured have been identified as Parimal Das, 35, Saddam Seikh, 19, and Ruhul Amin Seikh, 26.

Parimal Das and Saddam Seikh were referred to Guwahati by the authorities of Dhubri civil hospital. Rahul Amin Seikh remained admitted in the Dhubri civil hospital and is undergoing surgeries.

The factory was owned by Rehana Begum and operated from residential premises.

Joy Shankar Sharma, circle officer, Dhubri, visited the spot and sealed the factory.

“The district administration has sealed the factory due to the illegal engagement of mechanics and labour for repairing of the ice factory machine during the nationwide lockdown,” Sharma said.

He said an FIR has been lodged against the against the owner of the ice factory.
