Youngsters sway to Shefali Alvarez beats - Bollywood concert ahead of Durga Puja celebrations a big hit

Bhubaneswar, Sept. 28: Bollywood singer Shefali Alvarez was in the city last evening to perform at a concert. The singer regaled crowd with foot-tapping numbers and left them craving for more.

Starting with her famous number Steal The Night, the singer gradually moved to more popular numbers from the 70s and 80s.

The singer infused some jazzy beats into the old numbers affirming her background of being the daughter of famous jazz singer Joe Alvares. The crowd of around 500 mostly comprised of youngsters who went crazy dancing and singing along. She crooned her most famous songs such as O Gujariya, Tera Naam Jhapti Firan, Subah Hone Na De and most of the songs were accompanied by her stylish dance moves. She also sang peppy numbers such as Disco Deewane and Balam Pichkari.

This was the Shefali’s second visit to the state and she appears to love Bhubaneswar. “Last time, I had come to perform at Cuttack and it was great and this time, I was even more excited. I liked the greenery and the temples of Bhubaneswar,” she said.

After the audience requested her, she sang the hit Sheila Ki Jaawani and a number of enthusiastic girls ran up on stage and started dancing along with the singer.

The loudest cheers were saved for her blockbuster numbers — Badtameez Dil from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Dhaating Naach from Phata Poster Nikla Hero.

Speaking about the crowd, the singer said: “I never expected such a grand reception from the audience. I had a great time performing here.”

Wishing the people ahead of Durga Puja, Shefali said: “I wish the Goddess fills your lives with happiness.”

The concert was organised by a FM radio station, in collaboration with a distilled beverage company.
