Jajpur, Jan. 21: In a gruesome incident, a 35-year-old married woman on Thursday night set herself ablaze in her residence in Tisco colony of Sukinda Chromites Valley in Jajpur. Her charred body was retrieved by the residents of the colony.

The deceased, identified as Urmila Sahu (35), is the wife of Mahendra Kumar Sahu who works as a shovel operator in a private company. The neighbours, who had rushed to the spot, broke open the room and retrieved the charred body of Urmila last night.

The incident took place when her husband, Mahendra and 10-year-old child were away from home.

Urmila locked the room from inside and set her afire. It is said that the woman was suffering from some physical problems and used to have severe stomach pain. Police suspected that frequent unbearable pain might have led her to take the step to put an end to her life.
