Bhubaneswar: Two videos related to police personnel, which have gone viral on the social media, have turned the spotlight on their conduct in the twin cities.

The first video shows a traffic constable receiving bribe in Cuttack, while the second clip shows an assistant sub-inspector of Saheed Nagar police station lying dead drunk on road.

"The Cuttack incident has raised a question on the honesty of cops," said Arya Jena, a senior citizen living in Bhubaneswar.

Though the police have been conducting a number of programmes for improving staff behaviour and attitude, they seem to be not yielding any result. Both the incidents have invited severe criticism on the social media following which the accused police personnel were suspended from their duties.

Before these incidents, an inspector of Puri police station had manhandled a journalist at Capital Hospital on January 7 in inebriated condition. No proper action was taken against inspector R.K. Patra apart from a transfer though the victim lodged a complaint.

Deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi said men in uniform should maintain their dignity in public. "These kinds of incidents are not acceptable for men in uniform. The ASI concerned has been suspended ," he said.
