Tourism carnival makes colourful debut

Event set to become Bhubaneswar's annual affair

Wheel power

A power biking club of the city and many prominent FHRAI members, who are well-known bikers, were at the forefront of the rally. But the centre of attraction was actress Mahima Chaudhry, who took part in the event. Vintage cars, mainly owned by hoteliers and entrepreneurs, were also lined up.

Heritage calling

Replicas of world-famous monuments such as the Statue of Liberty and Colosseum in Rome were placed on a tableau. Another tableau showcased heritage monuments of India such as Sanchi Stupa and also included a big statue of the Buddha.

Nature's bounty

Odisha's national parks and sanctuaries were symbolically displayed at the carnival with models of some popular animals created for impact. Odisha's Similipal Tiger Reserve, Bhitarkanika National Park and several other forests attract a large number of tourists.

Made in India

The tableau on handicrafts included cane-work, which is famous in the northeast India, and crafts created out of coconut coir in Odisha.

Culture caravan

Tribal dances from different parts of the state and beyond were beautifully choreographed on Janpath. Ghoda nacha, Ghumar, Bagha nacha, Ranapa, Dulduli from Odisha were showcased. Folk dances from Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Sikkim were also displayed at the carnival.

Model students

Students of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) performed tribal dance at the carnival. While the students of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, displayed the model of a beautiful beach, students of SAI International School displayed their abilities with an orchestra unit, modern music and dance.
