Cuttack, Aug. 23: Tight security arrangements will be made for the One Day International between India and Australia to be played at Barabati Stadium on October 26.

On Friday, a three-member official delegation from Australia discussed various security related aspects for the team with senior officials of Odisha police here in the city.

“Director general of police Prakash Mishra has assured all possible assistance in hosting the day-and-night One Day International match at Barabati stadium,” said OCA secretary Ashirbad Behera.

Police sources said elaborate security arrangements would be made at the stadium and Mayfair Hotel, where players of both the teams would stay.

A mock drill from the airport to the hotel and to Barabati Stadium will also be conducted a few days before the match.

Australia will be touring India to play seven One Day International matches and a Twenty20 match in October and November.

Earlier in the day, the delegation, comprising Australian team manager Adam Fraser, security head Sean Carrol and players’ association member Graham Manon visited Barabati Stadium and took stock of the facilities.

“The Australian team has already played matches at Barabati, which is one of the best stadiums in India. We discussed various security aspects with senior police officers,” said Fraser.

The delegation visited the players’ dressing room, gym and other indoor facilities at Barabati Stadium.

The officials have expressed satisfaction about the infrastructure.

“Cuttack is one of safest cities since it had successfully hosted the Women’s Cricket World Cup earlier this year. We are hopeful that necessary arrangements will be made by Odisha Cricket Association as it has successfully organised international matches at Barabati,” said Suru Nayak, manager, cricket operations, BCCI.

Odisha Cricket Association had received a lot of praise for hosting the Women’s Cricket World Cup successfully in February and playing host to the Pakistan Women’s team.

Special arrangements were made for the Pakistan team inside the OCA club within Barabati sports complex.
