Balangir: The headmaster of Gopabandhu High School of Salepali in Deogaon block of the district has alleged that about three acres belonging to the institute has been transferred in the name of one Biswa Ranjan Dash of Jatni in Khurdha district through fraudulent transaction to set up a solar plant.

As soon as the matter came to light an urgent meeting of the school management committee was convened where the members condemned the fraudulent transaction by the solar plant authorities.

Headmaster Sashi Bhusan Sahu said the committee resolved to fight to get back the land. He said the committee had sent a memorandum to the Tusura tehsildar, Balangir district education officer and the district collector for necessary action. The committee has threatened to protest on streets if the school land was not returned.

A source said that in 1984, Madan Bag of Baddunguripali village had sold three acres to the school - which was registered in the name of the then secretary of the school managing committee, Gargaba Meher. The land was being used as the playground of the school.

However, it was recently found out that the same plot had been sold again to Dash for the upcoming solar plant at Baddunguripali by a private company. The solar power company, Salepali Solar Energy Private Limited, has purchased some 150 acres from the villagers in the area to set up the solar plant. The company has taken possession of the most of the land.

Sahu said the committee had drawn attention of the administration about the fraudulent land transaction. "We have intimated in writing to the tehsildar, district education officer and the district collector and have sought action against the guilty. We want the school land back," Sahu said.

Tusura tehsildar Chandramani Nag said: "The concern revenue inspector has been asked to submit a report in this regard. Action will be taken if any fraudulent transaction is found."
