Student drowns

Puri: A student drowned and another went missing while taking a bath in the sea on Puri beach on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Aman Kumar, a student of Central University of Jharkhand. The missing student is Akashraj Kashyap. Eyewitnesses said, five students were taking a bath when the incident occurred. The administration is trying to recover Kashyap’s body.

Rhino dies

Bhubaneswar: The lone rhino of Nandankanan Zoological Park, Nanda, died of old-age-related ailments in the zoo on Wednesday night. He was 40.

Three dead

Malkangiri: Three children have reportedly died of Japanese Encephalitis in Malkangiri district.

Boar attack

Sambalpur: Two persons suffered injuries after they were attacked by a boar at Udepali in Bargarh on Thursday. They are Ranjit Saha and Chitrabhanu Chhuria.

Projects cleared

Bhubaneswar: State government on Thursday approved two new projects of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Co-operatives (Iffco) and Well Spun Odisha Steel, which are expected to bring 
Rs 224 crore investment to the state. The proposal got the nod of the single window clearance authority headed by chief secretary A.P. Padhi. 

Murder arrest

Baripada: Mayurbhanj police arrested a 40-year-old man on charge of murdering his wife on Wednesday. He allegedly killed her for suspected infidelity. The incident happened in Girishchandrapur village in Khunta. The accused has been identified as Jitu Lohara.
