Keonjhar, May 23: A 35-year-old man was stoned to death by his elder brother over a property dispute in Belda village, Bamberi, late last night, in a rerun of the Biblical fable of brothers Cain and Abel. In the fable, Cain killed his brother with a stone.
The accused, Sriram Munda, 51, went to the police station and surrendered today. The cops said Sriram had a dispute with his younger brother Jena Munda over sharing ancestral property.
“On Wednesday morning, Jena came to Sriram’s house and quarrelled over their ancestral property. That night, Sriram went to Jena’s house and they fought again. Sriram hurled a stone at his brother’s head, causing him to fall. Sriram then crushed Jena’s head with the stone. He died on the spot,” said James Samada, inspector in charge of Bamberi police station.
