Bhubaneswar, Dec. 7: After spinning a number of box office hits like Aa Re Sathi Aa, Munna: A Love Story and E Mana ManeN. Padhi is presently trying his hands at a bilingual film.
Made in both Odia and Bengali, the film titled A Aa Harsaee ponders on an unusual relationship between a man's first and second wife.
'A second wife is generally not accepted in our society and is often associated with negativity. We wanted to explore facets of such complicated relationships that exists in a family,' said the director of the film N. Padhi.
In the film, a husband does not get the happiness that one expects from a wife and marries a second time. Interestingly, the first wife accepts the other lady as her sister. 'This does not happen usually but the first wife realising that she is not a good life partner allows her husband to be with the woman she loves,' added Padhi.
In an emotional climax, the second wife departs and finally the husband accepts his original wife.
When asked as to why they chose such an atypical storyline, the producer of the film Krushna Chandra Mallick said, 'We have tried to portray an extremely humane side of a woman through the film. Even today, women in India love their husbands purely and can sacrifice everything to see their husbands happy.'
Shot in Berhampur, Jirang and Gopalpur, the film stars Odia actor Ardhendu as the hero in both the versions of the film. In the Odia version, Babli will essay the role of the first wife and in the Bengali adaptation, the role will be portrayed by Srijila.
For Babli, the role is extremely challenging. 'This is for the first time that I am representing such a character. She is strong and soft at the same time so I have to show contrasting images,' said the actress who has earlier in a number of films like Akhi Palakare Tu, Aain Kanoon and Bad Girl among others.
Produced under the banner JMC Private Limited, the film has been scripted by Rajesh Mallick. The film that targets film lovers in both the states of Odisha and its neighbouring state West Bengal will hit the theaters in the first week of January 2015.
