Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to the daughter and son-in-law of former minister Raghunath Mohanty, who are facing dowry torture charges. ohanty’s daughter-in-law Barsa Swony Choudhary had filed an FIR with Balasore police on March 14 against the former minister, his wife Pritilata, son Raja Shree, daughter Rupashree and son-in-law Suvendu Madhual accusing them of dowry torture and criminal intimidation. The first three had earlier got bail.

Matric list

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Monday decided to do away with the top-100 list for the matric exams, the results of which are expected to be published by the last week of April. Secretary of school and mass education Usha Padhee said the decision was taken to reduce pressure on students.

MoU signed

Bhubaneswar: The state health department on Monday signed an MoU with the Asian Institute of Public Health to set up a public health university, the first-of-its-kind in the country, in public-private partnership mode at Gramadiha village in Jatni tehsil on the outskirts of the city. In the first phase, Rs 100 crore will be invested.

Pyari’s party

Bhubaneswar: Expelled BJD leader Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, who heads the Odisha Jan Morcha, will announce the name of his new political party on Tuesday. Members of the Congress and the BJP said Mohapatra was free to form a party of his own and that it would not threaten their chances in the 2014 Assembly elections.
