Malik takes over as governor

Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Vineet Saran administered oath of office to Malik at a brief event in the presence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik and other ministers and dignitaries. Malik, who is also the governor of Bihar, was given additional charge of Odisha after SC Jamir’s tenure ended on Tuesday.

Malik, 72, was earlier the Union minister of state for parliamentary affairs and tourism and has served as a member in both Houses of Parliament as well as the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
