Cuttack, Aug. 5: National Law University, Odisha (NLUO) will host a three-day literary festival starting from Thursday.
Krotova, the literary and debating committee of the university, is organising the festival, which aims to celebrate the heritage of literature, beauty of reading and writing.
Eminent writers, columnists and literary enthusiasts, including Pushpesh Panth, Arshita Sattar, Vartika Nanda, Anthena Kashyap, Altaf Tyrewala, Indra Sinha, Jatin Nayak, Kalyani Samantray, Chandrahas Choudhry and Dinanath Pathy, will attend the festival.
The varsity’s acting vice-chancellor, Priyambada Mohanty Hejmadi, today said it was for the first that a university was holding such an event which would benefit the students as they could learn about writing, publishing and other aspects. The festival will conclude on Saturday.
“Our objective is to bring together readers and writers, speakers of national and international repute to highlight the importance of literature. Various talk shows, workshops, book-reading sessions will be organised during the festival,” said Hejmadi.
Literary festivals these days have become a platform for sharing of ideas, knowledge as people from all walks of life having interest in literature assembles there.
“National Law University, Odisha, will organise such literary festival annually,” Hejmadi said.
A university official said the literary festival would cover extensive range of subjects based on novels, short stories, play, poetry, crime, fiction, science fiction, literary biographies, travelogues, screen writing, children’s book and other literary criticisms.
Play and poetry competitions will also be organised during the three-day festival, while students from various colleges and universities across the state and other parts of the country will attend the event.
