Debate, painting and songs on Father of Nation

Competition winners

Social organisation Sudha, in collaboration with the Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, felicitated the winners of the debate, essay writing, painting, songs and drama competitions among students of eight schools in Puri.

The programme aimed to focus on the life and message of Mahatma Gandhi to promote and develop Gandhian values and work.

Professor Aditya Charana Dhala, writers Pratima Mishra, Sibasundar Mishra, Ganeswar Praharaj, actor Biswamohan Mishra were present.

Annual day

The Saraswati Sishu Mandir, Narasinghpur, celebrated its 17th annual day recently. Local MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, former Narasinghpur College principal Kulamani Barik, block chairman Kishore Chandra Mishra, zila parishad members Nirmal Kumar Jena, Sachidananda Panda, Bamadev Dash and Priyambada Devi attended as guests. Meritorious students and three-year-old drummer Biswajeet were felicitated by the guests. The students also performed various cultural programmes on the occasion.

School event

Aurobinda Punnanga Shiksha Kendra at Nimapara in Puri celebrated its annual day event under the leadership of Benudhar Senapati. School president Bhabani Charan Pattnaik, Rajya Sabha MP Soumya Ranjan Pattnaik, local MLA Samir Ranjan Dash, block education officer Anil Kumar Biswal, Puri district Aurobinda Siksha Kendra organiser Sukanta Kumar Jena and headmaster Minati Senapati attended as guests. Various cultural programmes were presented.

Karate kids

Bhubaneswar authorities recently initiated a self-defence training programme to boost the self-confidence of adolescent girls, especially from slums within the Bhubaneswar Town Centre District. Around 65 adolescent girls from 23 slums in Bhubaneswar are undertaking the training from April 9 at Utkal Karate School in Bhubaneswar.

Scholarships

Twelve students of SAI International School have qualified for the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, a scholarship funded by the Centre's department of science and technology.
