Bhubaneswar, Aug. 21: The manager of an event management company, Amit Sahu, had to spend around 12 hours in the custody of Mahila police station following an altercation with his estranged girlfriend.

As people watched amused, the duo fought at a posh hotel in Jayadev Vihar, where the event management company had organised the launch of a four-wheeler.

Eyewitnesses said Sahu’s 30-year-old friend came to the hotel looking agitated and started shouting at him. She even slapped him in the face.

Before anyone could understand what was going on, the manager rushed to his car and tried to drive out of the hotel.

However, the girl followed him and hit his car with her helmet.

Sahu then got down and slapped the girl who fell unconscious.

The Chandrasekharpur police then rushed the girl to hospital. They handed over Sahu to the Mahila police.

The girl, who hails from Talcher and stays at Rasulgarh, said she and Sahu had been living in as husband and wife for the past three years.

“He had told my parents that we would live like a couple,” she said.

However, recently she discovered that Sahu had another girlfriend and he was avoiding her.

“I wanted to know why he was avoiding me after a relationship of three years. He was hiding from me. As I got to know that he had an event today, I decided to go there and ask him about the matter,” said the girl.

However, Sahu denied the charges. He said that he just knew the girl through the events his company was organising.

The police said they brought both the girl and the youth to police station.

“The girl is an album actress. Sahu had a relationship with her. However, as they wanted to settle the matter amicably, we let them go after they gave us a written undertaking,” said a police officer.
