Bhubaneswar, July 12: The state government has made it mandatory for students, who sought to upgrade their colleges during the second and third round of selection in Plus Two streams to take admission by July 17.
The department of higher education yesterday issued a directive in this regard. The notification said the students, who had not yet taken admission, should do so at the slide-up (ranked higher in the list of preferences) colleges before the designated date, failing which they would be barred from this academic session.
When a student is allotted a college against their preference, it is compulsory to take admission into that particular college in order to be considered for the higher preferences, according to the second selection list. If a student does not take admission, they would forfeit the chance of being upgraded to a more meritorious college and lose the entire academic year.
Once the allotment in the second and third selection lists is confirmed, a student is required to take admission into the upgraded college.
If they take admission in any college that figures lower among their options in the first selection and wish to continue in that college, they would have to provide an undertaking in a form, so that they would not be considered for an upgrade during the second selection.
A student failing to submit this during admission would automatically be upgraded and removed from the first selection college. In that case, it would be mandatory for them to take admission in the higher preference college.
Students can download intimation letters from www.dheodisha.gov.in, and follow the admission process.
Similarly, Plus Two pass course students, selected for admission into Plus Three courses, will also have to follow the same guidelines.
Informing about the development, the department has asked students to take admission in the colleges to which they have been promoted before the designated date.
"Another chance will be given to the students to go to slide-up colleges and they can be adjusted against the vacancies," said a senior higher education department official.
The college leaving certificate, which has been uploaded on the website along with the intimation letter, will be valid for this purpose and the slide-up colleges will have to accept the same. The same is applicable for admissions into degree courses as well.
The higher education department released the Plus Three second selection list on the official website dheodisha.gov.in today. The list was supposed to be released in first week of July but got delayed because of the discrepancies in Class XII CBSE results.
The intimation letter will be sent to the selected applicants by the higher education department through SMS or e-mail. Students can look forward to the admission process beginning from July 13, following which the third list will be released on July 18. Classes will begin from July 24.
