Balangir: A local court at Patnagarh on Monday sent Punjilal Meher, the accused in the parcel bomb case, to 14 days in judicial custody at the end of his crime branch remand.

The sub-divisional judicial magistrate's court sent Punjilal to Patnagarh sub-jail after rejecting his bail plea. Earlier in the day, the crime branch declined to extend his remand.

Crime branch sleuths, along with Punjilal, on Sunday returned from Raipur where the accused demonstrated a live reconstruction of the plot and the sequence of events till he delivered the parcel at the courier service provider. He also demonstrated how he made the bomb in front of experts.

The sleuths also spoke to the contractor of the parking area at Kantabanji railway station where Punjilal had parked his vehicle before leaving for Raipur. The sleuths, however , failed to locate the auto-rickshaw driver who took Punjilal to the courier service provide and booked the parcel on his behalf.
