Bhubaneswar, Feb. 23: This Sunday when you are in Raahgiri, expect to have some fun with robots.

In a bid to draw more people to the seventh Raahgiri, the authorities have decided to introduce robotics.

A special enclosure named "Fun with Robo" will be set up on the Janpath.

Robotics involves design, manufacture and operation of robots.

Authorities said that around 20 participants would be part of the robotics session, which would last for around 20 minutes.

During the session the participants would be allowed to play with the robots, assemble them and make them work as per the command given by a remote.

"Besides, the participants would be taught to use their smart phones as remotes after downloading the software needed," said an official of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).

Additional commissioner (enforcement) of BDA, Bhabani Chayani said that they were hoping to get a positive response from the participants, especially the student community.

"Robotics has become popular in almost all scientific applications, research, operations, and production and development activities. A city-based start-up on robotics will organise the event at Raahgiri, in which the students will have a chance to play with the robots," said Chayani.

Students also expressed their eagerness to be a part of the session. "All the events have provided wonderful experiences so far. This is the first time we will get a chance to play with the robots and assemble them. This would definitely shape our knowledge about the them," said Sneha, a school student.

The authorities has been initiating several unique steps to attract more participants to the event, which included kung fu, open-air gymnasium, battery-operated scooters, magic shows and health check-up camp. The civic body had also initiated a cleanliness campaign to ensure citizen participation in keeping the city spotless during one such event.

Besides, the authorities had also started an innovative initiative for youngsters to understand the difficulties faced by differently-abled people and gather knowledge on how to protect indigenous birds and animals during one such event.

During the last Raahgiri event, youths urged people to promote their mother tongue.
