Bhubaneswar, Aug. 2: A BJD MLA has landed himself trouble for submitting a false affidavit about his educational qualifications to the Election Commission during the 2009 Assembly polls.

The matter was exposed by an activist through the Right to Information Act. The MLA from Tirtol, Rabindranath Bhoi, admitted his guilt. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today summoned and heard his version. “I will look into the matter,” Naveen told media persons.

Bhoi, a matriculate, had claimed that he had graduated from SVM College in Jagatsinghpur. After the matter came to light, he said he had taken admission in the course offered by Madras-based Association Members of Institute of Engineers (AMIE), but could not complete it.

Opposition parties demanded his dismissal from the Assembly. Congress leader Narasingh Mishra said: “Now it has been established that there are many frauds and cheats in the BJD. The chief minister is protecting them.”

Mishra added: “Now that Bhoi has admitted his guilt, he is liable to be prosecuted and if the chief minister believes in transparency, he should sack him.”
