Bhubaneswar, Sept. 27: College authorities in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are worried the gap between the students' union elections and the Puja vacation may lead to post-poll violence on the campuses.

The issue was raised at a meeting between college authorities and the police here today. While the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for October 15, the Puja vacation will begin from October 19.

"With a gap of four days, we fear untoward incidents may take place," said principal of BJB Autonomous College Mohammed Nawaz Hasan.

Police commissioner R.P. Sharma said adequate police assistance would be provided to the colleges.
