Central funds

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Friday submitted a memorandum to the Centre for Rs 2,344.99 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund to fight the state’s drought situation. The memorandum listed 29,176 villages under 235 blocks in 28 districts as drought-affected.

Armed robbery

Dhenkanal: Armed robbers looted Rs 5.30 lakh cash belonging to the village community fund from some residents in Goudakateni village in Parjang police limits on Thursday night. One villager, Bharat Parida, was injured during the 
robbery.

World Bank team

Bhubaneswar: The World Bank Coastal Mission team, headed by country director Onno Ruhl, on Friday met chief minister Naveen Patnaik and shared their field experience. The 18-member team made extensive visits to the four coastal districts where the World Bank-assisted National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project is being implemented.
