Bhubaneswar, May 29: Police today detained yet another director of Artha Tatwa group of companies from the city and are questioning him to find out his alleged involvement in the fraudulent activities of the deposit collection company that had alleged duped its investors over Rs 100 crore.

Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Nitinjeet Singh said: “Sri Krishna Padhi, 35, was one of the directors of the company. We are interrogating him to find out his exact role in the affairs of the company.”

Padhi had worked for a news channel as its bureau chief before starting a vernacular newspaper.

The police had earlier arrested chairman-cum-managing director of the company Pradeep Sethi, 38, on May 12 and one of its former directors Jagabandhu Panda, 42, on May 27.

Officials also said that Panda, who had left the company in 2011, floated another deposit collection company Swastik India Multi-state Cooperative Society and had alleged cheated investors there too.

Panda was involved in filmmaking and was a co-producer of an underproduction Odia movie.

The DCP said that the city police would issue a summons to other people, including some journalists who had been named by Sethi during interrogation, for questioning. Sources said that some influential people, including politicians and media personnel, had taken loan from the company without any proper reason.

“We will check the documents related to such transactions,” said an official.

The police have written to eight central and state government agencies to provide them with related documents of the company.

In another development, the crime branch today conducted raids on the Seashore group of companies at its Angul offices.

Two days ago, investors in Angul had demanded refund of their money.
