Cuttack, Feb. 27: A special police squad arrested an arms dealer from the busy Ranihat Square and recovered two mausers, two magazines and 10 rounds of live bullets from his possession.

The accused, Prakash Behera alias Babua, 32, was nabbed from Hindi Cinema area around 9pm yesterday when he was about to sell the arms to customers.

Acting on a tip-off, the special squad of Mangalabag police nabbed the arms dealer, who hails from Seikh Bazaar.

“We have arrested an arms dealer who used to smuggle weapons from Bihar and supply them to various gangs operating in the twin cities,” said a senior police official.

The accused used to procure pistols from Munger at a cost ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 and sell them to gangs for Rs 35,000 to 40,000.
