Bhubaneswar, Aug. 17: With three films set to release end of this month during Ganesh Puja, cine goers will be spoilt for choice.
The trailer of Bhaunri — The Sinking Reality has created a lot of buzz among movie lovers. Shot in the scenic landscapes of Odisha, the film is a long shot from the usual commercial flicks. It is about a boy, played by Arindam, who dares to go against the system. Bidita Bag in her debut Odia film plays his love interest. She essays the character of a lively tribal girl. The film is directed by Sudhansu Mohan Sahoo.
“The script is an original one. Since audience wants to watch original ideas, directors are taking initiatives,” said Arindam, who is known for doing larger than life movies.
A comic drama, Ame Ta Toka Sandha Marka, scripted by comedian Tattwaprakash Satpathy, better known as Pappu Pom Pom, is also slated to release this month end.
The film is based on the life and times of warrior clan Paika from the traditional Akhadas of Khurda. Koyel Banerjee plays the female lead and cinematographer R. Vagvat Singh is the director. Veterans such as Mihir Das and Minaketan Das will be seen playing pivotal roles.
“I have taken two months training to get into the skin of the character. The film is purely Odia in its feel and essence,” said Pappu. Koyel is returning to the big screen after one-and-a-half years. Abhijit Majumdar has composed music for both the films.
After being paired in the immensely successful film Akhire Akhire, the trio of director Susant Mani and lead pair of Babushan and Jhilik are back with Lekhu Lekhu Lekhi Deli. The shooting of the film began in mid-June. The characters played by Jhilik and Babushan exchange phone numbers on a bus, but the numbers are washed away in the rain. Serendipity has it that they go on to have an arranged marriage but both of them turn out to be two very different people and hence seek divorce.
