Guwahati, March 2: Twenty junior players, including eight girls, have been selected for a central coaching camp organised by the All-Assam Tennis Association (AATA).
The camp, to be held at the Jorhat Tennis Club from tomorrow to March 22, is for players in the age group of 12 to 15. M. Balachandran, a Pune-based International Tennis Federation level-2 coach who was earlier associated with the Batra Tennis Academy, will conduct the camp.
The selected players have been asked to confirm their participation to AATA honorary secretary Raktim Saikia. They have to pay a coaching fee of Rs 2,000 each and find places to stay in on their own. Twelve more players, including four girls, are on stand-by.
The selected players are
Boys: Momin Ali, Srinivas Rout, Abhinab Sarma, Kaushik Das, Suman Kr. Debnath, Prasurjya Borthakur, Rituplaban Gogoi, Akashdeep Bora, Anirban Hazarika, Pranai Das, Anshuman Baruah and Partha Pratim Bora.
Girls: Varsha Dutta, Kasturi Verma, Shivani Dutta, Parna Das, Bhaswati Sarma, Ipsita Saikia, Soni Neog and Argha Baruah.
Standbys: Sudhanta Sekhar Mohanty, Rekibul Hussain, Anurag Baruah, Gaurav Baruah, Rishab Bordoloi, Simanta Malakar, Bhargav Saikia, Anshuman Baruah, Suruchi Kotoky, Trinity Kashyap, Sunnanya Das and Sukanya Das.
Tripura side out
Bloodmouth of Tripura has been omitted from the revised fixture released by the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) for the Northeast zonals of the national “B” division football league, beginning in Shillong from Wednesday, reports our Imphal correspondent.
The first group comprises Manipur Police Sports Club, Assam State Electricity Board and Lajong Sports Club, while Group B has Eastern Union Sporting Club, Oil India Limited, Langsning Sports Club and 1st MAP Football Club.
Revised fixture:
Group A: March 5: MPSC vs ASEB; March 7: Lajong vs ASEB; March 10: Lajong vs MPSC.
Group B: Eastern Union vs Ist MAP and Langsning vs OIL; March 8: OIL vs Eastern Union; March 10: Langsning vs 1st MAP; March 11: OIL vs 1st MAP and Langsning vs Eastern Union.
Qualifying round
March 13: B1 vs A2 and A1 vs B2; March 15: A1 vs A2 and B1 vs B2; March 17: A2 vs B2, A1 vs B1.
