Guwahati, May 15: Tezpur registered their second straight win in two days, handing a 47-run defeat to Lakhimpur in today's match of the third Umananda Bora Trophy under-13 inter-district cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.

Opting to bat first, Tezpur were all out for 95 in 23.1 overs and the Lakhimpur boys were skittled out for only 48 runs in 19 overs.

Tezpur lost a couple of quick wickets to be reduced to 16 for two in 6.1 overs. However, opener Abhilekh Dey (18, 2x4) and Md Rihan (9) steadied the innings sharing a stand of 32 runs for the third wicket before the former was clean bowled by offie Dharani Singh. New man Akash Deep Kashyap, eventually, topscored for the side with a 27-run knock facing only 10 balls. He slammed four hits to the ropes and a six. Akash shared a 13-run stand with Rihan and 18 more for the fifth wicket with Bhargav Kettel (3) before another collapse saw the innings fold up at a total of 95.

Pacer Mayukh Hazarika and Dharani Singh bagged three wickets each for 11 and 17 runs respectively and offspinner Riturag Saikia returned with the figures of two for eight. Lakhimpur, despite losing an early wicket, looked set for a hot chase with opener Riturag Saikia (11) and wicketkeeper-batsman Ruhinandan Pegu (15, 1x4) sharing a second wicket partnership of 21 runs and Pegu and Kuldeep Gogoi (1) sharing a stand of 11 runs for the subsequent wicket.

However, Pegu's dismissal by off-spinner Bhargav Kattel triggered the collapse with five of their batsmen out for nought. Bhargav and Kalyan Newar ripped through the middle order to share three wickets each conceding 10 runs. Akash Deep Kashyap also picked up two for 14.
