Guwahati, Nov. 18: Parikshit Somani toppled second seed Ishaque Eqbal in straight sets 7-6 (4), 7-5 to storm into the under-18 boys' singles semi-finals of the ITF Juniors World Ranking Tennis Championship at AATA complex at Chachal here today.
In the under-18 girls' quarter-finals, local girl Priyana Kalita's run of wins was halted as she went down to top seed Sabhyata Nihalani 6-1, 6-4.
In the other three boys' singles quarter-final matches, top seed Dhruv Sunish eased past seventh seed Adil Kalyanpur 6-3, 6-4, fourth seed Sunil Jagtiani defeated Aditya Vashist 6-3, 6-0 while third seed Udayan Bhaskar got the better of eighth seed Anurag Nenwani 6-3, 6-4.
In the girls' quarter-finals, fourth seed Anna Solovyeva (Russia) came back from a set down to defeat Yubarani Banerjee of India 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 while Humera Begum Shaik had a cakewalk with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty.
In the other round of eight match, fifth seed Vaidehi Chaudhari defeated Lasya Patnaik 6-2, 6-4.
In the boy's doubles under-18 quarter-finals, Dhruv partnered Shrey Gupta to defeat the duo of Anshuman Gulia and Bijay Kumar Mohanty 6-4, 7-6 (5).
Parikshit and Ishaque defeated Arghya Das and Manaz Naina Mohamed 6-1, 6-4. Sanil Jagtiani and Anurag Nenwani defeated Kunj Kotak and Sumitpal Singh 6-4, 6-2.
Adil Kalyanpur and Rishi Reddy, too, sealed a semi-final berth, defeating Sagar Bains and Vikrant Dahiya 6-4, 7-5.
In the girls' doubles quarter-finals, Shivani Amineni and Sravya Shivani upset top seed Sabhyata Nihalani and Kaaviya Balasubramanian 1-6, 6-3, 10-5. Priyana and Yubarani defeated Lasya Patnaik and Bhavya Ramineni 6-3, 2-6, 10-5, while third seed Shrivalli and Anna defeated S.B. Apoorva and Muskan Gupta 6-1, 6-1.
Second seed Harsha Sai Challa and Vaidehi Chaudhari blanked Sofia Khan and Aditi Shreya 6-0, 6-0.
