Guwahati, Nov. 26: The Royal Global School is organising the second Anup Lahoty Inter-School Sports Meet on its premises here from Friday.
“This is the second edition of the Anup Lahoty Inter- School Sports Meet and will include six events this time. It is an annual feature of the school and is being organised in his memory. He was an honoured and hard-working faculty who passed away after battling cancer. We have also included two more events this year,” said Anubha Goyal, the principal of RGS.
The last edition of the meet included badminton, basketball, tennis and table tennis while two more events including taekwondo and football will feature in the upcoming championship.
“It is an attempt to bring students from across the state to one common platform to showcase their talent. Usually schools organise single-discipline championships. However, with the Anup Lahoty Inter School Sports Meet, we want everyone to participate. The overall champion team will walk away with a cash reward of Rs 30,000,” said Ashok Talukdar, the co-ordinator of sports of the school.
Both boys and girls are eligible to participate in the events, except for football, which will feature only boys.
So far, 15 schools have confirmed participation in the meet.
“We invited more than 25 schools. However, 15 schools have confirmed participation so far. Some of the schools include Don Bosco School, Delhi Public School, Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, Faculty School, Geetanagar, among others. Another five schools are likely to confirm participation by tomorrow. Verma Sports and Nivia have assured us with all the logistics support,” Talukdar added.
