DHANSENA CRICKET

Guwahati, May 23: Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti and DAV High School won their respective games in the 7th All Assam Dhansena Sinha Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament at Latasil playground here today.

Sarala Birla defeated Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School by eight wickets via Duckworth-Lewis method while DAV edged past Maharishi Loknath Academy by four runs. In a rain-affected match, curtailed to eight overs, Gurukul were restricted to 41 for two. Abhijit Sarkar was unbeaten on 14 while Udayan Bordoloi chipped in with 14. For Sarala, left-arm spinner Vidit Agarwal bagged two for nine in two overs.

Sarala were 26 for two in 4.2 overs when they were declared winners for a better run rate after rain interrupted proceedings in the fifth over. Vidit was declared the Man of the Match. In the afternoon match, DAV opted to bat first and posted 106 for six in 15 overs. P. Paid Raja and Kanhaiya Kumar scored 26 and 15 respectively. Maharishi bowlers Faiyaz Ahmed, offie Rahul Bajoria took two wickets each. In reply, Maharishi fell short by five runs, as they were bowled out for 102 in 14.3 overs. Pawan Verma and Amit Prasad scored 21 each while . DAV pacer Suraj Yadav took two for 25 .
