Nominations filed

Three candidates, including a woman, today filed nomination papers for the by-election to the Nongstoin Assembly constituency, which will be held on November 21.

Shillong, Nov. 3: Three candidates, including a woman, today filed nomination papers for the by-election to the Nongstoin Assembly constituency, which will be held on November 21.

The contenders submitted their papers before S. Kharlyngdoh, the returning officer of West Khasi Hills district, at Nongstoin, nearly 96km from here.

Sitting member of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, Gabriel Wahlang, filed his nomination papers as nominee of the ruling Congress, Diodstarness Jyndiang as candidate of the Hill State People's Democratic Party (HSPDP) and woman candidate Fenela Lyngdoh as an Independent candidate.

The Nongstoin Assembly seat fell vacant following the demise of HSPDP leader and MLA Hoping Stone Lyngdoh on September 26.
