Guwahati, March 15: Navarang Club defeated City Cricket Club by 16 runs in their match of the Bhupen Chandra Mahanta Guwahati Sports Association A Division Cricket League at Nehru Stadium here today.

Opting to bat, Navarang put up 118 runs before being bundled out in 33.2 overs.

Sadek Imran Choudhury topscored with 43 runs off 69 balls, an innings studded with five hits to the fence while Bishal Roy and Bikash Singh chipped in with 20 and 13 runs respectively.

Deepjyoti Nath was the pick of City bowlers with figures of four for 23 runs in his allotted seven overs while Chandradeep Das and Aman Kalita scalped two wickets each conceding 24 and 28 runs respectively.

Chasing the target, City Cricket batsmen could only manage 102 runs in 30.5 overs. Surender Singh scored 59 runs off 99 deliveries, laced with six boundaries.

Azahar Ali was the pick of the bowlers for Navarang Club with a five-wicket haul for 14 runs in five overs while Bishal Roy bagged two wickets for nine runs in four overs. Abir Chakraborty scalped one wicket, conceding eight runs.
