Imphal, Sept. 4: Manipur body-builder N. Kishen Singh achieved a milestone in his career, bagging the Junior Mr Asia title of the 41st Senior and Junior Mr Asia contest that concluded in Shanghai yesterday.
Kishen fetched the coveted title in the 70-kg category.
Last year, he bagged the Eastern India body-building title and came third in the Federation Cup meet. He also has several Mr Manipur titles in senior and junior groups under his belt.
Speaking to the media, All Manipur Body-Building Association secretary Sh. Thambal Sharma said Kishen’s achievement was a proud moment for Manipur as well as the country.
Sharma said there has been a tremendous boost in the body-building scenario in Manipur with the introduction of cash awards. Earlier, it was difficult to attract players with only certificates and mementoes, he said.
Without any aid from the government, Kishen’s tour was financed by fans and supporters. The new Mr Asia will return here tomorrow.
