Guwahati, Nov. 27: Icon Commerce College inflicted a six-wicket defeat on Pragjyotish College today to enter the quarter-final of the 4th All-Assam Lauhapurush Premoda Kanta Sarma memorial inter-college cricket tournament organised by NEEDS at Latasil playground here.

Put to bat, Pragjyotish piled up a challenging 141 in 19.2 overs. Bikash Singh’s 30-ball 51 was the highlight of the innings. Lakhan Das and Govinda Rajbongshi chipped in with 15 runs each. For Icon, Deepak Pajiyar scalped three for 49 in four overs while Rohan Saini bagged two wickets for 13 in four overs.

Icon achieved their target in 18 overs, scoring 146 for four. Bastab Hazarika played a match-winning knock of 55 not out off 36 while Debojit Mahanta remained unbeaten with a brisk 26 off 21. Pallab Das chipped in with 12 runs. For Pragjyotish, Dheeman Jyoti Das bagged two for 22 in two overs while Ibrahim Ali got one wicket.

Paschim Guwahati College will meet Guwahati Commerce College in the first quarter-final while Dispur College will play BMBB Commerce College in the second.
