Imphal, April 26: Huyel Lalong Thang Ta Samurou bagged seven gold medals in the 23rd State Thang Ta Championship 2012 held at Khuman Lampak Indoor stadium today.

HLTA Samurou’s H. Rebita Devi beat Y. Bejenti of HLTA Yumnam Huidrom for the gold in the junior girls’ phunaba ama in the 44kg event.

S. Bijaya Devi of HLTA Samurou landed another gold in the 65kg category.

In the senior girls’ phunaba ama of the 54kg category, M. Ranjita Devi of HLTA Samurou claimed the gold while Th. Imom Chanu fetched the silver and Kh. Romila Devi of HLTA Mongsangei won the bronze medal.

In the senior boys’ phunaba anisuba 56kg category, A. Tombi Meitei of HLTA Samurou beat H. John Singh of Maibakhul Mikal for the gold and silver while Sh. Suresh of Hiyangthang settled for the bronze.

Sh. Suresh Meitei landed another gold for HLTA Samurou, beating W. Aka Singh of Hiyangthang while O. Roshan of HLTA Yumnam Huidrom won the bronze in the 60kg of the senior division.

HLTA Samurou prevailed further with A. Somorjit getting the better of Y. David of HLTA Yumnam Huidrom for the gold while Th. Shankarjit of Heigrujam Nongsha Lallong collected the bronze in the senior boys’ phunaba anisuba 65kg category.

The seventh gold medal for HLTA Samurou was fetched by A. Ibenu Chanu in the junior girls’ phunaba ama 70kg category.

Bal Vidya SAI Thoubal also came good with K. Anupama Chanu in the junior girls’ 48kg, P. Sakhenbi Devi in the 52kg and N. Anuradha Devi in the 56kg winning the gold.

MCA cricket: Cachar Road Athletic Union registered a 19-run victory against Pakhangba Cultural Club in the MCA Classification Tournament at Luwangpokpa cricket ground.

Cachar Road made 108/10 after being sent to bat first.

Pakhangba Cultural Club were dismissed for 89/10 in 28.1 overs. Washington was named the Man of the Match for his three-wicket haul.
