Guwahati, Oct. 11: Hosts Assam Sports Journalists Association (ASJA) face defending champions Pratidin in the final of the Leo Advertising 12th Harendra Nath Barua inter-media football meet at the SAI Newfield Complex here tomorrow.

The ASJA sailed past an injury-plagued The Sentinel 7-3 in a super-six league match. Pranjal Hazarika opened the account for ASJA, while Deepmoni Sarma scored two goals and Pabitra Gogoi struck a hattrick. Gautam Sarma fired in the seventh goal.

Deepjyoti Sarma scored twice for The Sentinel. Bidyut Baishya netted another goal for the team.

In another match today, Agradoot beat Aji 4-2. Rajib Barman of Aji converted a penalty kick, and Agradoot rode a hattrick by Taufiqur Rahman, who netted all their four goals, to register the thumping win. Mukul Kalita also netted a goal for Aji.

With today’s win, ASJA scored over last year’s runners-up Janambhumi to make the final, thanks to a better goal average. Pratidin topped their group with six points.
