Nov. 29: Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) today decided to go in for computerisation so as to ensure transparency in its finances.
A meeting of the Hospital Management Society (HMS) at the GMCH complex this morning resolved to do away with the manual method of maintaining accounts relating to revenue collection and expenditure.
The decision to computerise the GMCH account was taken at the meeting presided over by Rajya Sabha MP and HMS chairman Dwijen Sarmah after the latest audit report of the hospital was submitted.
The audit report, prepared by a firm of chartered accountants, has detected several loopholes in GMCH accounts of income and expenditure. It has out forward several recommendations to plug such loopholes.
The firm was entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the audit report after corruption charges were levelled against the hospital.
