Guwahati: Momo and Thai cuisine lovers in the city have a reason to rejoice as Fat Belly, the restaurant chain offering 48 varieties of momos, opened its third outlet opposite Commerce College on Sunday.
Fat Belly is a start-up by two city-based engineers - Dhiraj Deka and Parixit Bhattacharjee - who left their jobs at multi-national companies in Mumbai and Goa to venture into the food sector in their hometown. They started their first restaurant, offering Pan Asian cuisine, near Dighali-pukhuri early last year. Following the success of this outlet, they teamed up with Manjita Kalita Chowdhury, an experienced food caterer, to open the second branch of Fat Belly in Uzan Bazar. The restaurants became the talk of the town for their tasty, divergent and innovative momos.
As their clientele grew from across the city, the trio took on board Aditya Bhattacharjee to extend their footprint to RG Baruah road, opposite Commerce College, with numerous eating joints. This outlet is the biggest one with a seating capacity of 75.
"We are very happy with Guwahati's response and this is why we came up with the third restaurant," Deka said.
The restaurant offers a wide variety of momos such as vodka momo, cheese momo, grilled momo, pan-fried momo, Schezwan momo, Afghani momo and lots of options for vegetarians. The price for a plate of momos ranges from Rs 70 to Rs 130.
