BSNL service takes Wings

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd on Tuesday launched its new Internet telephone service, Wings, in the Assam circle.

Guwahati: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd on Tuesday launched its new Internet telephone service, Wings, in the Assam circle.

Launching the new service here, the chief general manager of BSNL's Assam circle, Sandeep Govil, said, "To use this service, a customer needs to install Wings App on any smart mobile handset or tablet with Internet to make and receive calls from anywhere in India and abroad with any landline or mobile number."

It also has video calling facility among Wings users.

Govil also said the market share of BSNL in Assam has increased from 7.8 per cent to 12 per cent over the past year.

"We are expanding our network by setting up new towers in various locations of Assam. Now we have around 3,000 towers and 1,000 more will be set up soon in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts of the state," Govil said.

The CGM, while informing about various offers to customers, said it has 20 lakh customers and stands in the third position in Assam. Among them, around 50,000 are broadband users.

"BSNL Assam has recently launched many new broadband or fiber to the home (FTTH) plans at very low cost in support of Digital India activities and also to bridge the rural and urban digital divide in Assam," Govil said.
