U-15 Youth League
Imphal, Jan. 18: Neroca FC went down 0-2 against Aizawl FC in the AIFF U-15 Youth League, 2015-16, which got under way at Khuman Lampak main stadium here today.
Aizawl FC dominated the proceedings from the start but had to wait till the second half to take the lead.
Peter Lalduhawma put Aizawl ahead in the 55th minute after he collected a low pass from the left to slam home the opening goal.
Aizawl consolidated in the 85th minute from the penalty spot after Peter Lalduhawma was brought down by L. Rocky Singh inside the danger zone. F. Lalrohlua made no mistake in beating the keeper for the victory today.
In another match, Gangtok Himalayan Sporting Club thrashed NRL SPT Sports Academy, Assam 3-0. Ong Tshering Sherpa scored twice in the 24th and 54th minutes and Suraj Limboo chipped in with one goal in the 48th minute to collect three# points.
The next matches on Wednesday will have Aizawl FC taking on Gangtok Himalayan SC while Neroca FC will face NRL SPT Sports Academy.
Manipur polo: Shiroy Polo galloped with a 9-1 victory over Kangla Polo in the first Statehood Day Women's Polo Tournament, 2016, at Mapal Kangjeibung here today.
Havey (full name not available) topscored for Shiroy, netting four goals while Julia got three goals and A. Romabati chipped in with two. The lone goal for Kangla was fetched by Christina in the first chukker.
The other match saw United State Polo Association beat Sangai Polo 7-5 in a closely fought battle . S. Sunita Devi hit five goals while Tiamo scored two.
The Sangai team had a slow start but clicked in the second and fourth chukker with Niloo Rk and Carly getting two goals each while Tamna fetched one.
