Batman vs superman announced

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder announced the film at the end of the Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures panel at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2013, with a footage of the superimposed logos of Batman and Superman. Reaction? Deafening screams.

Batfleck backlash

As soon as Warner Bros announced that Ben Affleck would play Batman against Henry Cavill’s Superman in Batman vs Superman the Internet exploded and #betterBatmanthanBenAffleck started trending on Twitter with fans calling it a casting catastrophe. One group even filed a petition at Whitehouse.org to ban Ben Affleck from playing Batman.
In other news, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will return in the film.

Gal gadot is wonder woman

In December 2013, Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder announced that they had found their Wonder Woman in Israeli model and actress Gal Gadot.

Batfleck is older and wiser

Amidst all the backlash, Ben Affleck said that his Batman will be “an older and wiser version”. The idea was to differentiate it from Christian Bale-Chris Nolan’s Batman but keep it within the Batman canon.

Jesse Eisenberg as lex Luthor

In January 2014, after fans made Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) their favourite as Lex Luthor, Warner Bros. announced that Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg had been cast as Superman’s nemesis.

A justice league movie on the way

In April 2014, Warner Bros announced their competition to Marvel’s Avengers — a Justice League movie. The director?Zack Snyder, of course.

Bat— fleck, suit and mobile

On May 13, 2014, Zack Snyder tweeted a picture of not just the Batmobile but of Batfleck in the Batsuit. “I shot this with my @Leica_Camera M Monochrom. #Batman#Batmobile #Gotham”, was the tweet from the @ZackSnyder handle.

Title and new logo

A week later, the official title of the film was revealed: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, with a ‘V’ instead of a ‘vs’ along with a new and updated logo.

Red alert for robin

Rumours of a female Robin started flying around after Hunger Games: Catching Fire actress Jena Malone was spotted on the Batman V Superman set. More fuel was added after the actress tweeted a picture of her hair dyed red. Frank Miller’s comic Dark Knight Returns, which Snyder said the movie is based on, has a female Robin (Carrie Kelly) with red hair.

Ebola scare shifts shoot

The team decided to change the shoot location from Morocco to New Mexico because of the Ebola virus scare.

Drogo is aquaman

In August 2014, Warner Bros. confirmed the casting of Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa as Aquaman in Batman V Superman.

The dc trinity

A promotional poster featuring Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman is spotted online. Some say it is fake and others claim that is authentic which, if true, would make this the first official look of the three superheroes together.

Aquaman, first look

“There is only one true King. #unitetheseven” tweeted Zack Snyder in February 2015 with the picture of Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Momoa looked more like his Game of Thrones character Khal Drogo than Aquaman. The #unitetheseven was a teaser for Justice League.

Lex luthor, first look

After months of conjecture about whether Jesse Eisenberg had gone bald for his role as Lex Luthor, Entertainment Weekly carried a picture of him as Lex and he was, most definitely, bald.

The first trailer for batman v superman

Of course the trailer leaked online before due date, and of course the filmmakers had to rush to provide the original material. Whatever people thought of the trailer they agreed on one thing — it had taken ‘dark’, literally, to the next level.

Full Batsuit reveal

Zack Snyder tweeted a new picture of the batsuit, this time in full, on April 21. “Thanks to everyone that turned out for the #MondayBvSSpecialIMAXEvent screenings tonight! #BatmanvSuperman” read the tweet.

First teaser posters

On the same day, Snyder tweeted these two teaser posters, finally with some colour.

Synopsis revealed

The second week of June saw the Internet flooded with news of the unofficial synopsis of the film. Collider (an entertainment new portal) reported that the synopsis read: “Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day saviour, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before”. Who that “threat” is we can’t wait to find out!
