Alessandra catches Daniel Craig’s eye in Casino Royale (2006)

How often do you travel?
Probably once a week for work assignments: in December, I was in London for a (Mario) Testino shoot; in February, it was Brazil. A few years ago, I went to the Bahamas and had a day filming at the One&Only Hotel for a part in Casino Royale.
I usually have two long holidays every year, one in July or August and one at the end of the year. I’m based in Los Angeles.

Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa, Maldives

Favourite shooting location?
Last year I went to Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa in the Maldives to shoot my swimsuit campaign for Ale by Alessandra. It was really beautiful and super exotic.

Best places to shop in the world?
Wherever I go, I like to find the little small shops which are off the beaten track but reflect the styles and culture of that place and are usually selling handmade products. I love shopping in Dubai, Mykonos or Ibiza. I love buying handbags, bags and jewellery.

Favourite part of Brazil?
Florianopolis, a beautiful island in the south of the country, where I have a summer house. My entire family congregates there for the holidays.

Great remote spot in Brazil?
Trancoso in Bahia. The town has a 500-year-old town square, which is charming.

What do you need for a perfect holiday?
Sunshine and the ocean. I love living in my bikinis.

Iguazu Falls

Your earliest memory of travelling abroad?
When I was four years old, I went with my parents to the Iguazu Falls. It wasn’t far from where I grew up in Erechim.

Most adventurous travel experience?
When I was a little younger, I used to go backpacking and travelling around Thailand for as long as a month. I’d scuba dive, and see the whales and sharks.

Most remote place you’ve ever been to?
An island location in Tanzania for an editorial photo shoot with nobody around. We stayed in tents.

Maui, Hawaii

Your most relaxing destination?
Maui in Hawaii, where I’ll stay with the family at the Four Seasons. There are lots of activities for the children.

Favourite holiday destination?
Florianopolis for New Year with friends and family.

Favourite hotel?
Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro — for work or pleasure. The view from the pool is gorgeous.

Favourite city?
Los Angeles because of the weather, and you can go to Malibu, which is a really cosmopolitan place. I love the charming 500-year-old town square of Trancoso in Bahia, Brazil.

Joe’s Stone Crab, Miami

Favourite restaurant?
Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami. The food is delicious.

A drink at Catch, LA

Favourite bar?
Catch in Los Angeles has a really nice atmosphere and yummy drinks.

Best city for nightlife?
For clubs, it’s Ibiza, but Paris is great for nightlife. For the latter, I love the atmosphere and restaurants. You can go for a nice dinner and walk by the Seine.

Worst travel experience?
Once or twice a year I’ll have a moment when a flight gets cancelled or I miss a connecting flight. These things happen.

Favourite airline?
I’ve been travelling with American Airlines since the beginning of my career.

Best piece of travel advice?
Pack light and always include a swimsuit.

Best beauty tip for travelling?
A hydrating mask after a long flight is a good idea. On the plane I use one of those hydrating sprays to spritz my face.

Alessandra in a cashmere sweater

Your one travel essential?
A cashmere sweater, which I can wear during the flight, so I can be comfortable.
