Katrina Kaif will turn a year older on Monday and the Bollywood star plans to celebrate the day in the English countryside with her near ones. The 34-year-old actress says she does not like to have elaborate plans on birthday and prefers to keep it low key. “Birthdays for me are about having a good time with your loved ones. I don’t believe in reminiscing too much. Every year I try and have a good time. I am at a place in the countryside with my sister. I am happy about the day. It is all about having fun, chilling and relaxing,” Katrina told PTI. “When I come back, I have to finish Aanand L. Rai’s film Zero for which I have a song to shoot.” 

Vera Farmiga and John Leguizamo have come aboard the cast of Ava DuVernay’s project Central Park Five. The limited series by Netflix, will be written and directed by DuVernay. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will also feature Michael Kenneth Williams in a pivotal role. The four-episode show is based on the case of five teenagers of colour who were wrongly convicted for the rape of a jogger in 1989. When they are exonerated after 25 years, they sue the city for their time in prison. 

Demi Moore fell prey victim to credit card fraud amounting to over $169,000, according to reports. The actress’s credit card was stolen in March this year, and used by the perpetrator for shopping, according to legal documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight. Moore’s assistant contacted the credit card company to report the false transactions. She was told that the card had been recently reported as lost, and a replacement card has been sent. According to the documents, investigators found surveillance video evidence of a man named David Matthew Read, who was seen making purchases from Los Angeles stores, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. 

Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey will helm the Bollywood adaptation of the top-grossing Thai thriller Bad Genius. Inspired by real-life news of students cheating in the exam for entry into foreign universities, Bad Genius transplants the heist film structure to a school-exam setting, and features themes of class inequality as well as teen social issues. “We keep looking for exciting stories and content all the time and Bad Genius is an amazing film. We are looking forward to the re-imagination of the film as per Indian sensibilities and hope our audiences like it,” Pandey said in a statement. 

Actor Jeremy Renner has boarded the cast of Blumhouse Productions’ Spawn. The 47-year-old actor joins Jamie Foxx, who will be playing the title character, created by Todd McFarlane. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Renner will play Twitch, a “good cop” surrounded by corrupt officers who ends up working with Spawn. The comic series follows Al Simmons (Foxx), a US Marine, working for a CIA black ops unit who is killed in battle and sent to hell for his war crimes. After selling his soul to a demon in exchange for being allowed to see his wife again, Simmons is transformed into a demonic warrior, Spawn, and he fights to regain control of his destiny. 

Mission Impossible actor Simon Pegg has opened up about his struggle with depression and alcoholism, saying that he checked into a rehabilitation centre to seek recovery. The 48-year-old actor said while he was shooting Mission: Impossible III in 2006, he was “fairly lost, and unhappy, and an alcoholic”. “It was awful, terrible,” he told The Guardian. “It owned me. When I watch that film back, I can see where I was then, which was fairly lost, and unhappy, and an alcoholic,” Pegg added. The actor said he “micro managed” his condition for quite some time, till the ball dropped.
