Patna, Aug. 14: The state police headquarters will reward the Delhi and Patna police teams that played a pivotal role in the arrest of Kundan Singh, wanted in the transporter Ravikant Choudhary murder case. Each team would get Rs 50,000.

“A reward of Rs 50,000 will go to the Delhi police team. The Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) has been asked to send the names of the city police team members who were a part of the operation leading to Kundan’s arrest,” director-general of police Neel Mani said.

A special team of Delhi police, in co-ordination with their Patna counterparts, arrested Kundan from the Mukherjee Nagar area of the national capital on Saturday. A four-member team of the Patna police, led by deputy superintendent of police (Sadar) Rashid Jama, was camping in Delhi to keep a tab on Kundan’s movements.

After the murder of Ravikant on July 27, the police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for assisting cops in arresting the culprits. A similar reward was announced for arresting Kundan’s son Mantu Singh, his relative Kripa Shankar and another accused identified as Saroj. Kripa Shankar was arrested earlier.

“The Delhi police team did a commendable job and it is because of their help that the prime accused was arrested within 20 days of the murder. He was also involved in 12 cases, including murder and extortion,” SSP Alok Kumar said.

Patna city SP central Shivdeep Lande said: “Kundan will be brought to Patna by Monday evening or Tuesday.”
