
Patna, Jan. 3: Former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh is learnt to have today invited Nitish Kumar to campaign for the Congress in the Punjab Assembly polls, expected to be held in April-May this year.
He also showered praise on Nitish for the Prakash Utsav arrangements in Patna.
"The Congress is going to win Punjab elections this time in a big way," Amarinder, 74, told The Telegraph. "There is no contest or challenge from the Akali Dal-BJP alliance or AAP.... I have 47 years' experience in politics and I know there is no problem for the Congress in Punjab."
He was in Patna along with All India Congress Committee general secretary Shakeel Ahmad for Prakash Utsav, the 350th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh.
Amarinder visited Gandhi Maidan and offered prayers at the huge temporary gurdwara set up there. He also served devotees at the langar (community kitchen).
"The arrangements done by Nitish and his government are so good that we have never seen such measures anywhere else," Amarinder told journalists at Gandhi Maidan.
"Even the government buildings have been lit up with colourful lights. It could not have been done even in Punjab," he added.
He met Nitish at 1 Aney Marg and invited him to campaign in Punjab.
