| Anupama, the winner of Miss Magadh Mahila Contest 2012, sports the crown at Magadh Mahila College in Patna on Monday. While the third-year student of history department was declared the winner, Kriti of BCom department and Madhushree Mishra of the English department were adjudged first and second runners-up, respectively. Part III students of all the 22 departments of the college took part in the ramp show. The students sported designer saris. While the students flaunted their modelling skills, the background music, including songs like Mar jawan from Fashion and Bol na halke halke from Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, made the ambience perfect for the show. Monika Roy, member of Lions Club of Patna, Jaya Mathew, faculty at National Institute of Fashion Technology, Patna, and Sugandha Sinha, teacher at Chanakya National Law University, were the members of the jury. The ramp show was divided into three rounds — introduction, talent-cum-on-the-spot question and questionnaire. In their introduction round, the students spoke about their hobbies while they performed dance and songs in the talent round. However, the questionnaire round was the most interesting round, where the students had to answer some tricky questions of the judges. Anupama wasted little time as she was asked to speak on Parliament. Her spontaneity impressed one and all. A number of students received awards for high attendance. Principal Dolly Sinha, who was present on the occasion, said: “The students of the outgoing batch should not consider graduation as the end of their academic career. They should think that their journey will begin once they step out of the college. I wish them all the success.” Text by Shuchismita Chakraborty, picture by Jai Prakash |
